Anouk Smeekes is an Assistant Professor and works at the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER) at Utrecht University (the Netherlands). In relation to the topic of tolerance, she has published various papers on how historical tolerant representations of national identity affects attitudes towards Muslim immigrants among native majority members in the Netherlands. In the InTo project, she is the daily supervisor of PhD candidate Evi Velthuis and participates in meetings with the whole InTo team discussing the ongoing projects, relevant articles and new data collections.
